2 cups self-rising flour
1 T sugar
1/2 cup shortening
3/4 cups buttermilkIn large bowl stir together flour & sugar. Cut in shortening. Make a well in the center & add buttermilk. Stir until the dough clings together.
Turn onto a lightly floured surface and knead 10-12 times. Roll to 1/2 inch thickness and cut with a biscuit cutter and place on a ungreased cookie sheet. Brush tops with melted butter and bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes or until golden brown.
